Honda Odyssey Transmission Problems & Repair

Are You Having Honda Odyssey Automatic Transmission Problems?

We continue to get many calls from people who are having problems with their  Honda Odyssey Transmission. Unfortunately, transmission problems with these family cars is very common from 1999 to 2001.

These automatic transmissions came from the factory with a weak ball bearing with the internal assemble. Over time the ball bearing would break down and then spread bits of metal throughout the transmission. The fragments of the bearing would clog up the transmission fluid lines and would end up causing slippage in the gear shifts.

Frequently at higher speeds, the gears would not shift until the gas pedal was released causing the driver and passengers to experience a jerkey and unsafe feeling.

For a 2002 Honda Odyssey the automatic transmission add a fifth gear, but third gear clutch-pack would quickly wear out sending fragments of metal throughout the transmission. This would make the transmission fail to shift into gear. And a really scary situation with this transmission is that fifth gear would suddenly down shift to second gear.

Many of the Honda Odyssey five speed transmissions also began showing serious signs of overheating the second gear and eventually second gear would lock up the transmission.

At San Jose Honda Odyssey Transmission Repair we have serviced and repaired transmissions for the all models of the Honda Odyssey. We have also fulfilled most all of the Technical Service Bulletins for the transmission of these vehicles.
