Having a tough time seeing while driving at night?

If you are having a hard time seeing at night while driving, it could be your headlights. Most headlights lenses today are made of a plastic composition, not glass as in years ago. The plastic often discolors and gets cloudy, dramatically reducing the amount light emanating from the headlight bulbs. In most cases the lenses can be corrected and restored using a special compound and procedure.

Many of these fixes are only temporary and if not done properly, you may damage your lenses, leaving you with a very costly repair to replace the headlight assemblies.

If you do have clouded headlight lenses, I recommend having a professional check them first. Some lenses get clouded because moisture gets trapped inside the lens. Also, ask the shop to check the headlight alignment, this will put the headlights back in focus after the headlight lens restoration.

San Jose Auto Repair provide best quality automotive headlights and headlamps at the best prices .

Auto A/C System Problems

Your a/c system is self contained and does not need maintenance. If the air comes out cold, you are done, and you don’t have to worry about this system. If the air comes our cool, or warm there are two possible problems with the system.

Why Doesn’t My A/C Work?

First possibility:

The system may not have enough a/c refrigerant to enable a/c compressor to engage. Under the best of circumstances an a/c system slowly loose its refrigerant. It takes somewhere around 7 years for a perfectly good a/c system to leak enough refrigerant such that the compressor will not start when you try to get cold air. The oil which lubricates the a/c compressor floats in the refrigerant. As the refrigerant leaks out, the oil leaks out. If the compressor engaged when there was inadequate amount of refrigerant, the compressor would not be properly lubricated, and it would seize-up. To prevent this from happening, a pressure sensor prevents the a/c compressor from running when you are low on refrigerant.
On a side note, to keep the compressor lubricated in the winter, the computer turns the compressor on and off.
Also, when you turn on the “defrost,” the a/c system automatically turns on. The air first goes through the a/c coils in order to “dry-out” the air, and then the air is heated by the heating coils so that it can evaporate the condensation on the windshield.

Second possibility:

The system is full of refrigerant, but due to an electrical problem, the a/c compressor does not turn on. For example, you could have a bad button (on the dash), bad relay, bad fuse, bad wire, or a bad sensor.

HOW TO CLEAN CAR FABRIC ?

Keeping your car’s interior clean is just as important as keeping your car’s exterior …
If you have ever owned a car, you know how quickly the inside can become messy. Life is hectic, and sometimes the cleanliness of your car can fall by the wayside. If you are looking for answers about how to clean car fabric, here are some tips to keep in mind.
Cloth Seats
If you, your children, pets, or friends have stained your cloth seats, all hope is not lost. In fact, using the tools any professional carpet cleaner might use, your seats will get to looking (and smelling) like new in no time.
If you have a carpet shampooer, you can use the hose attachment to clean the seats just as you would your own carpet. You can rent a carpet cleaner from many home improvement stores if you do not want to make the investment. Additionally, many car washes now include a shampoo station alongside the vacuum station.
Leather Seats
Leather stains can be a bit trickier than cloth. A general rule of thumb states that messes made on leather clean up much easier than those on cloth, but this is only if they are taken care of immediately.
Varying leather cleaning products are readily available on the market, from wipes for light cleaning jobs to shampoos for heavier ones. Wipe down the leather to remove any crumbly debris prior to cleaning. Be sure the cleaner you use is specifically designed for leather or it may damage your seat.
Apply a conditioner after cleaning to prevent the seat from drying out and to restore its rich, original color.
Carpets
As with cloth seats, a carpet shampooer may be used to clean the carpet in a car. The carpet in your car is not very different — if at all — from the carpet in your home. Apply the same tactics that you would use in the home to the carpets in your car. Many of the same products you use in your home will work in the car, as well.

How To Check Oil Level? 10 Steps You Should Follow!

Its one of those things, you know it needs doing but you don't quite know if your doing it right! Well I've got you covered, here's the answer to 'How To Check Oil Level'

I'll break it down step by step.

        1. Park the car on a level surface, switch of the engine, remove the keys and leave to settle and cool down.

        2. Gain access to the engine bay. This can vary from car to car but if the
engines under the bonnet / hood open the bonnet / hood, if the
engine is in the boot / trunk open the boot / trunk.

        3. Locate the engine oil level dipstick. If you are unsure were this is,
you may need to refer to the owners manual.

        4. Remove the dipstick fully and wipe the entire length with clean lint
free cloth or kitchen towel. Ensure you can throw this away after use.

        5. Refit the dipstick and pull back out. Inspect the oil level on the
dip stick. It should look similar to this.

        6. If the oil level is between the Min and Max marks this is acceptable
there is absolutely no need to keep oil level on the Max mark.

        7. If the oil level is below the Min mark then to oil needs topping up.
Select the right engine oil for your car either from the owners
              manual .

        8. Locate the engine oil fill point, you may need to refer to the owners
manual. Put engine oil a little bit at a time. I.E place 200ml of oil in
engine. Leave for 1 minute. Refit dipstick. Pull dipstick. Check
engine oil level. If below Min mark repeat process. If between Min
              and Max job is complete.

        9. If Oil level was above Max mark it is not recommended that the
vehicle is driven until excess oil is removed from engine. If you
don't know how to do this, I highly recommend you call your
mechanic as it is isn't a job to be tackle without the correct
              experience.

        10. Once oil level is between Min and Max mark. Ensure dipstick is
Refitted and oil cap is back on. Close and secure engine access
              method.

If you have any doubt's about checking your oil level. Please consult a Trained Auto Mechanic as they will be able to advise you best if they know what make and model your car is.
